CYCLE RACE 
Formby Lions support health improvement programmes both abroad and in this country. In 2004 we supported the Sefton campaign “Cycle for Health”. This project sought to encourage people to cycle by organising an event from Maghull to Southport via Formby and back. Over 200 people took part including two Lions and the club helped to man the refreshment stall at Ainsdale.
FORMBY POOL PROJECT 
Formby Pool Project is now becoming a reality and to help get to that stage lots of fund raising events took place including a 10km and 3km race from Range school through the woods and on the beach back to the school. This race is now becoming a fixture that will help to meet the health objectives of the Formby Pool Trust and Lions were there helping to organise the car parking at the school as competitors came from a wide county base.
CAN & BOOK STALLS 
Each month from March to October we hold a bookstall selling second hand books.
On average we sell about 200 books perevent. Each year we also hold a can stall.During the week preceeeding the event
we collect unused cans of food and drink from hoseholds in Formby, selling them off at heavily discounted prices the
following Saturday. |
